When Sotogrande was being built, Mr. Joseph Mac Micking brought most well-known people from all over the world to make plans and give their consultancy. One of the most famous gardeners in Europe, specially in France, was an English gardener called Russell Page.
Till 1983 there was a unique and vast polo ground with the perfect grass on the beach front of Sotogrande. Every visitor who came for a visit was puzzled how this unique piece of real estate was left for horses.
In 1979, as soon as I came to live permanently in Sotogrande, I decided that it was necessary to learn Spanish, so as to have a better understanding of the people and the country.
